Default 1997 4.2l questions please help!

Hello all f150 owners! I bought a 1997 f150 regular cab 4.2l v6 2wd 5-spd

I'm looking for a performance chip for my truck. I'm looking for more torque and horsepower. Or just something that's good for towing. I have a 19' Searay boat. The truck pulls it fine stock but I just want a little more out of it.. If you know of a tune or chip please let me know! Thank you!

About the only thing you can use is a tuner. I used a SuperChip 1715, one that is fitted to 1997-98 trucks. The 99 and up can use a number of different brands and types. We were fairly limited on choices when I was looking. Jett used to have a plug in module at one time, but isn't available anymore. One thing for sure is, DON'T buy one of the inexpensive (under 30=40) chips, that supposedly give you more power and fuel economy. They are just a inline 2 wire resistor. Some come as a small rock like unit, others in a small plastic box or sleeve, They do NOT work. Don't waste your money. Only a true adjustment to the program paramaters will do any difference with your truck. This is why you need a tuner. Old GM used chips, but these do not. Good luck.
