The question I have, though, is why aren't there free copies out there to download? The Land Rover community has been circulating a digital copy the Discovery shop manual for years through message boards and enthusiast sites.

Of course, Land Rover dealerships are few and far between and, when found, charge much more than your typical Ford shop for parts and labor. So it could be a matter of necessity.
Ive got a spare haynes repair manual Id let go for 10 bucks shipped, which is what i paid for it. Got it off ebay, needed one before it got here so had to give advance my 25 bucks

Me too. At least if you drop the book you can dust it off and go on. A laptop would be done for.

I bought a workshop manual off of amazon for $70, same one you will find at a dealership. A Brand new workshop manual goes for over $200 at least and the haynes and chilton manuals dont cover anything in depth, and dont cover too much really.

I grabbed Alldata through a torrent. It's pretty huge, but that's because it covers most makes and models.
