So it'll take me about a week to do it being super newbie :P. And I'm hoping someone already did it all. I have a mechanic friend here on post with me who is offered his help at $8/hr. (He typically charges people $15/hr which imo is still cheap) So I will be using his assitance as much as possible to get everything done and learn along the way.

Good advice. The only way to learn is to do.

Yep that's pretty much why I get the cheaper price is because I am working along side him to learn. I could just pay him more and stay inside hiding.. but then I'd never learn anything so it's like paying for school while getting my truck worked on :P

Got the passenger side COPs done along with the plugs. For the most part all 4 COPs were in pretty good shape, however the plugs were really corroded looking. And two looked like the pic below, any idea what would cause this kind of funk?

Looks like someone managed to pour oil into the plug holes, like the boots on the cops weren't sealed.

That's what it seemed like to me also. Is there anyway to clean it out? It is the 2 middle plug holes on the passenger side. Tomorrow I am hitting the drivers side if I can sneak away from the family for a bit. Also first time trying to tackle this kind of job alone but I want to know my truck inside and out as she will be here for a long time.

That being said I hope the drivers side is easier haha

It's a lot easier with a body lift. Lol

But seriously, pull the intake and maybe the fuel rail to make life more simple.

Any tips for cleaning out the holes the plugs go into??

I took the fuel rail lose on the passenger side but didn't fully pull it out since I'm not sure how it disconnects as it gets closer to the firewall
