03 key wont turn
hi everyone. im new here. i have an 03 f150 4wd supercab 4.6L. i bought it wrecked and am fixing it. the problem i am having is that the key wont turn. i called ford and they said that there is a a chip in the key and they would need athe truck in order to get me a new key.
is there anything that would cause this? could the fact that there isnt a battery be causing this problem? thanks |
The battery and the chip will not nake a difference. Since you got it wrecked whats the possibility that its the wrong key?? Was the air bag deployed?

is the wheel locked up? if I turn the truck off with the wheels turned, then grab the wheel on the way out of the truck, I will have to trun the wheel off of the wheel lock to get the key to turn

I know that its nothing that would happen under normal conditions. It probably had something to do with the accident.
The airbags did not deploy and are both fine, which really surprised me when i first saw the truck The steering is not locked, I've tried everything that i would normally do when that happens and me and 3 others couldn't get the key to turn. It is the correct key, it works in both doors and also works in the passenger airbag on off switch. I called the local ford dealership and they said that there is not a separate door and ignition key. does anyone have any other ideas or similar experiences? |
my dads new pontiac wave is doing the same thing. key goes in but wont turn. it's cold up here so we're wondering if the lock has some condensation in it. gonna try some lock de-icer when it warms up.

what the hell is that, is it even a real car?
|
not in my opinion. haha. but he likes it( when he can turn the key)

i think i'm gonna try some of the graphite stuff for the tumblers. i had a similar problem in my GSXR and that fixed it.
unfortunately the window in the truck was shattered and there was snow and everything else in there when i got it. even the cup holders were full of water. anyone know what the tumblers are made of and if they can actually rust? |
maby shoot some compressed air in there?
|
The pot metal in the mechanisim might have corroded if there is that much moisture in there.. Take the covers off of the column and spray penatrating oil in there everywhere.
