Default '01 f150 Aftermarket Seat Heaters

I purchased some aftermarket seat heaters and am having some issues finding a source of power. I found some wiring schematics on eautorepair.net, and tried to tap into a thicker wire in the Psgr. side door post between the doors. Supposed to be a 30 amped wire, but apparently it only is powered if there are heated seats installed at factory.
A few of my questions:
Where should I draw power from ?
Is it simple to add the wiring in the fuse box under the hood for where the fuse is installed from the factory ?
Where did others draw power from, and has it been reliable?

Thx for any help !

Just find a larger diameter wire under the drivers dash that runs ignition power so they turn off with the key. (Same wire u would tie into with a remote start) should be in the ignition switch harness and either dark blue with light green trace or red with black trace. Don't forget to fuse it. Good luck

I ran a wire from the battery(10 gauge) to a fuse block mounted behind the back seat and have had no problems with it supplying power to all my smaller items. Got the fuse block for about 15 bucks off eBay a while back and just gradually add more items to it. Also has spots for fuses. Thought I'd share, good luck with it man. I'm looking to add some seat heaters in the near future too.

^^ That's exactly what I was going to recommend. That fuse block could also be placed under the dash somewhere.

Just be sure to label what each wire is for. That should reduce headaches in the future when trying to figure stuff out.

If you check your owners manual where it shows the fuse panel it tells you what each fuse is for and shows you unused fuse locations. Therefore no need for an extra fuse block.
