Call up some local camper shell places. Often times when someone buys a commercial shell with the full doors in back, they leave their tailgates there and the shop sells them. Otherwise junkyards/craigslist is your best bet.

Great advice! Got a brand new tailgate for $200 for my 2004 Ranger back in the day after young me backed into a fence.
