mak off-road pipe
I have a alumnized version of the mak off-road pipe for the ecoboost for sale. I purchased this the beginning of November and have used it until yesterday when I put my stock cats back on. This pipe definitely lets you hear the turbos better as well as makes it a little louder when you get on it. You will however not be able to pass emissions with it on unless you have a small town shop that doesn't bother with that and I know there out there. The pipe is in excellent shape as I mentioned it was only used for 3 1/2 months. The only thing that would be different then when you buy it knew is I paid a shop 50 dollars to put a weld halfway around the seam on the driver side pipe where it slips in. It will still install just fine as the factory cats are all one piece. I will post a picture of what I am referring to. I had them put the weld because when the pipes were on there was the smallest little gap between the two and I wasn't sure if that would cause an exhaust leak so it was easier just to have them weld it. Any questions just ask I am asking 225 normally run 369 I believe. I do not want to ship and for those in houston interested I can meet in wharton as that is the halfway point from me to you.
Yes it will still be installed normally the only difference is that piece is attached instead of a slip in joint. The pipe was on my truck like this. The factory unit is all one piece and it is a bit of a pain like that to remove and install since its so heavy. This setup is much lighter and before it was welded it was in three pieces making it easier to install. Now its two pieces still easier to install then factory piece. Not 100% sure but the weld might be able to be undone with a grinder or something. Its not welded all the way around just about 50% of the way. But it should cause no problems the way it is. I only had it welded to insure no leaks where the pipes slid together since there was a slight gap.
why did you take it off?
I'm in NC and the yearly inspections due put a sniffer in the the tail pipe.
How much of a hastle is it to take on and off for the DUI guy?
Not looking to create a nightmare where I cant get this off and the stock back on for testing.

I took the pipe off to return everything to stock I also have other parts for sale the full race intercooler and exhaust In another thread. We also have the sniffer test down this way in Texas. But you can find small shops in certain towns that will pass you anyway. Overall it's fairly easy to do the swap hardest part getting to the bolts on the turbo. But shouldn't take more then a few hours and of course the second time is always easier as it was when I removed it.
