Default Tell me what you guys think about this

I have been wondering about this also for awhile now. Would I get better gas mileage in my '92 F150 ext. cab if I switched the 5.0 for a 4.0? What might be involved in that con version? Let me hear your thoughts on this please?

We actually just went over this with someone else. The 4.0 is fine for a Ranger but it's too small for the F150. Gas mileage will be worse as the engine will struggle to get the heavier truck moving.

Okay I can see that point but what about a 4.9? Would the gas mileage go up?

The gas mileage would go up if you bought a 1992 escort and parked the truck for a while. :P

And I get 9-12 MPG with my 4.9L

I can get 17 with my 4.9, but I only get 10 since I always pull my trailer.

I can get 16 in my E4OD equipped 300 on 31s with 3.08s... used to get 17-18 on stock tires. What mileage are you getting now?

For the 100th time, you cant improve mileage any more with the crap gas the brainless feds are making us use. 10-20% methanol, and other crap results in less mileage and more money for Obammer.

I wouldn't even try to think about doing that.. Cause u will end up blowing up the motor sooner then u think trying to pull a heavy truck like that with that small of a motor in it..

Understood and I shall never ask again! I was just asking everyone's thoughts on doing this. I did not mean to start crap over it and surely did not mean to upset anyone. I shall have this thread locked so no one else has to get involved.
