You're in for some culture shock.
People are actually nice to strangers in Texas. I honestly didn't realize how über-liberal California was until we got the hell outta there. That place is insane.

Speaking of "closeness", Dallas is closer to St. Louis, MO than it is to El Stopo (errr...I mean, El Paso).

Born and raised in the Commonwealth of Kentucky but moved to the Lone Star State like several of the Alamo defenders (only 140 years later ).
So if ya do the math, you can see I've been here *awhile* - long enough to have a 33 y.o. native Texas born son (...and he ain't leaving Texas anytime soon).
