Waiting for my new truck....but I have questions!
I'm waiting for our new 2013 Lariat to come in, but I have some questions I need help with.
1) What did you guys do regarding undercoating / rustproofing? I plan to keep the truck for 10 years minimum. The dealer offered a package for about $700, but no real details on what you get.
2) Is there any alternative for us in Canada to buying the very expensive ESP plans offered by the dealer. I'm looking at 7 year 150,000 km. I don't want anything third party.
3) Looks like a Bakflip VP is the nicest folding hard cover tonneau for me. Anyone have something they are very happy with and why?
Thanks in advance!

I was thinking about going with the electronic anti rust module they offered at the dealer. It was $899 installed, but from a lot of reports I heard, it's supposed to work really well. They also told me that if you came in off the street, the price would be in the range of $1300. Take the dealers word for what it's worth, I guess.

Yeah, I don't know anything about these electronic modules. THe dealer I bought from didn't offer it, but I know people who have them on other new vehicles. I guess time will tell? Did you go for it?

I would strongly suggest you investigate the electronic ones very carefully- I've heard the exact opposite.
I've been using my guy Kelly's Rust -Check shop here in Mississauga for years. Costs about 150/year. He did my van, and I had it for 9 years. Zero rust.
A lot of options, and people that will swear by what they use. Mine is simply an opinion.

Trust me - $150 / year = $1500 over 10 years. Tell me what kind of bodywork could you get done for $1500?

Keep it oiled up you should be ok , plus helps lubricate everything . I've Krowned my 08 and even skipped a year or two , no rust . Our 06 Mustang Krown religiously and winter driven ...no rust , but man it's oily under there you gotta scrape to see metal from the gravel road it was driven down for years .
