Thanks for the post. I've looked around and it seems that for 2017s, 17-18% off msrp is tops right now, whereas the 2016s you can get 20% or more off but lease rates are over 5%.

I think I may hold off and place an order in May, that way the truck is delivered in the middle of employee pricing so I can chose which combination of incentives work best.

5.0 is certainly simpler and most likely more reliable than EB. I'd probably consider it instead of 3.5EB but:

- 10-speed transmission is only available with 3.5EB in 2017

- crazy green liberals care only about the size, not about actual fuel economy. Not sure about other provinces, but here in Quebec you are taxed extra $155/year for 5.0L engine. And I am certain this war on the large-volume engines will continue. So, from that perspective, getting EB is just a way to remain under this 4.0L limit and still have power.

If I wanted to estimate the X-Plan price for an F-150 XLT V8 Super Crew with 302a, to which column should I refer? Dealer invoice l/holdback?

I am getting a number around 45 077, including a tailgate step and a 3.55 locking axle. That would translate into an X-Plan price of 44 896.69 at the 0.4% reduction.

And I think I would get the $1000 costco rebate and the $3750 delivery allowance?

Can't really help with x-plan but feel free to check the cap cost on a lease I signed 2 weeks ago.

As you are in Canada, then for us, poor Canadians, Ford charges 2% on top of invoice for X-Plan privilege. And the invoice includes 2% holdback. Ford is not doing that well these days, I think you should be getting at most invoice price minus all incentives easily. When it is a custom order I doubt they will go below the invoice. If that's one from the lot, it may be different

Check CarCost for the details. In ON you also have an incentive that you can get if you do not get Ford financing. At least there was one. Too bad it is too late to grab Auto Show $750 bonus.

That is a nicely configured truck for sure.

According to CCC, for my truck MSRP incl. freight is $57904. Wholesale is $49378.

Thanks for clarifying X-Plan formula in Canada. It always amazes me at how much more Canadians are willing to pay for vehicles. We are so compliant.

It is not compliance, it is the lack of options and this lack of options is somewhat supported by the government and the industry.

However, in case of F-150 I think it is not so obvious. MSRP seems to be higher on them in US than in Canada - before the sales taxes, of course. When I was preparing to buy mine (MSRP 72,100 CAD - Lariat with almost all options), I did check on ford.com just out of curiosity. I ended up with MSRP of about 10K CAD higher - adjusted for the exchange rate, of course. And that included a couple of rebates related to the options.

Anyway, when it comes to the accessories, Canadians are usually ripped off big time. I buy whatever I can in US. It is simply insane what the dealers and other companies charge here for simple things - and many of them are made in USA or even Canada. Will never forget that plastic cover for the rear wiper for Cadillac SRX. 75 CAD in Canada, 19 USD in US...It is written on it - "made in Canada"!

Actually you seem to be right as regards F-150. I specced out mine on the US site (XLT crew,5.0, 301a and some misc items) and it came to US$44270 -> C$60726. But I think the transaction prices down there are much lower relative to MSRP, than they are here.

I was once talking to a dealer principal in the GTA. He has about seven stores from different brands. I asked him why Canadians pay more for cars. He said it is simply because Canadians are willing to pay more for cars.

Well, I did hear it myself from an RBC representative that the Canadians feel uncomfortable if the bank does not charge a consistent monthly fee for the chequing account. And he was serious. I am afraid I am not truly Canadian ;(

Doesn't it sound silly - "willing to pay"? If you have the same thing for $10 and $13, would anyone be willing to pay $13? Everything else being equal, of course.

I would believe that the Canadians (on average, no offense to anyone!) are less informed and less "skilled consumers" than US people. That I can believe in. It is still not the same as "willing to pay more", it is more about not knowing the truth (or larger part of it ) and agreeing easily with what the sales guy says. And some dealers are still making big eyes when then see a simple report from CarCostCanada - "where did you get this stuff from?!" However, all this is changing now.
