I'm curious to see if anyone has actually used the ESP from the US here? How easy was it to get the dealer to call the US number for authorization? Knowing how many dealers operate I can see a lot of resistance on there behalf especially when you have Canadian plates and ownership. Anyone have any experiences to share? I paid $1900 for my premium care 6yr/80km warranty. Still have time to cancel and purchase in the US if dealers here are open to servicing it.

Yes I would like to know too. I am just starting Year 3 of my 3/60k warranty. I heard the US ESP prices may be going up in October, so if Canadians can buy it and use it with little hassle I may buy soon. Thanks for those who have some experience they can pass along.

OP : The ESP is negotiable. Had you tried before purchasing a US one?

I live in Québec and my local Ford dealership wanted 2600$ for a 5y/60k full warranty (basic extended from 3y to 5y). I got it for 1000$, all included.

My dealer wanted something similar, like $1170 or so. Given the fact that it could be included in 0% loan, the "saved" interest on it would be around $60. So, roughly $1100+tx. I ended up paying $615 USD (about $800 CAD) no taxes for 5 year Premium coverage, 60K miles (!), $50 USD deductible.

Got the same plan from Flood Ford, didn't negociate since i got it online. US Ford dealer don't want to sell plans to canadians customers, so the online way is the best for us.

Just wondering, if anyone has any updates on this? Anyone running into problems after buying a US ESP?

I'm also looking a getting a Flood Ford ESP and the USA address requirement is not an issue for me. Can anyone chime in if anything has changed with getting or using it recently in Canada? I haven't been able to find any dealers in Calgary that are willing to negotiate on the price but if anyone has worked with a particular rep that has negotiated on the price let me know as I would prefer to keep my money circulating in Canada.

This is a very naïve assumption that paying to a Canadian Ford dealer will somehow keep "your money circulating in Canada". Last time I checked, Ford was a U.S. company. And most likely (too lazy to check my contract), the ESP has nothing to do with Ford either. It is an insurance polity and most likely is underwritten by a U.S. insurer. Pure financial product. Unless you are concerned about the unhealthy profit that you are going to give to the dealer for doing nothing but filling a form for you.

Very true that most of the money will go to Ford USA, but if you know anything about economics, if that Canadian sales rep makes $X for selling an ESP as part of his salary, that means he spends it likely in Canada. From there on, that $ will circulate a bunch of times within Canada. Unless the reps up here get $0 incentive for selling a ESP which I highly doubt. Please don't assume someone is naive in a thread and reply back with a useless comment that has nothing to do with my original question.
