ben is the manager.
if you tell him a guy who bought a leer 100xl for a 2010 sterling grey and it had the thule rails only on the roof, he may drop you a discount of some sort.
i dropped 3200 bucks at that store, and if someone can benifit from it too, then thats great too.

i'll definitely give him a call... if i can save $20-30 by driving 20 min out of my way, it's worth it

Hey guys,
Just finished reading all 42 pages... wow. First post here too. I'm on lots of bike forums (ADVrider, Vstrom etc) and on Toyotanation as all i've ever driven were Tacomas and now my FJ Cruiser. Time to get back to a truck and i'm just not impressed with Toyota's offering in a full-size. With so many friends buying Fords (6), I think i've made up my mind and now looking for a 2013 FX4 6.5' box with sunroof & luxury pkg. Now to decide on motor. Among my buddies there is the 5.0, the 5.4 and the ecoboost. Hmmm.
Anyway - great thread. I hope to add a truck to my profile soon.

While I like Toyota's, I wouldn't put them in the same class as Ford and I'm glad to see you're going to step into one. You will not regret that decision!
If you're going with a 2013 you will have the 5.0 and Ecoboost to choose from. I went with the 5.0 for a couple reasons. The first is that I do not tow a lot, so the low end torque wouldn't have mattered to much and the 5.0 gets only 5 HP less than the Ecoboost. Secondly I think the Ecoboost is a great innovative engine, but is finicky and has to many annoying little problems. I have a friend who works at a dealership and he pushed me in the direction of the 5.0 due to the high volume of Ecoboosts coming in for a variety of problems.
The third reason is I love the V8 rumble. It is an aggressive sounding engine, and I bet it would sound really nice with a Magnaflow on it or something along those lines. The fourth reason was that the 5.0 was $1200 cheaper than the Ecoboost.
The fuel economy of the 5.0 is pretty good. I am still in the "break in" period but under normal driving conditions I will get 12-13L/100km on the highway, and around 15-16L/100km in town.
As for the truck itself I got a 2012, Sterling Grey, supercrew, 5.5' box with the luxury package, navigation package, and moonroof. Overall I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Welcome to the mad house! We Albertans are a breed all our own and are always excited when another joins the pack!
