Who are you asking tongchang? user tagging helps. I have no recos - i have bought from Stadium Nissan (2004 Frontier, 2008 Titan), From Charlesglen Toyota ( 2015 Tundra), Village Honda (2014 CRV), Northstar Crowfoot Ford (2018 F150) and I dont reco anyone.....they are all the same.....you go where you get the best deal and where they dont yank your chain. Simple.

I thought the best dealer was the Honda guy, where he didn't talk down or bull**** my girlfriend (she knows as much about cars as I do about brain surgery). No upselling or crap. If you know what you want, go straight to the point and be courteous, you will get a deal...simple. If you dont.....then walk.....dont have any brand loyalty......none of them deserve it.

I was at the Ford dealer to tentatively price a factory order. He used an application that printed two columns, MSRP and Invoice for base and all the options. The discount on the totals is 6.7%. Does it seem like a real invoice pricing or is somehow an intermediate discount ?

This is vague, too little info - why does "real" or "intermediate" matter? What is 6.7% discount amount to? If 6.7% implies 93.3% payable on a 50K truck total (which is about 47K) or thereabouts.......then run. You can get 20% off MSRP without even trying. you should aim for 25 - 30% off MSRP,

Thank you for the run suggestion
The MSRP is $59,725. The Invoice is 55,754. He was talking about a rebate of 1,750 which would bring it down to $54,004. That is about 10% off MSRP.
Are you saying that I should be paying between 47,780(20%) and 41,807 (30%) ?

Indeed I am, people will try and convince you that 2019s will not have large discounts, ......it will take a lot to get to 30% on MSRP, thats unlikely. I got 28% off MSRP. aim for 20 - 25%, its your money in the ned, but the discounts are there if you push. No F150 is worth 60K, I wouldn't even pay that for a Raptor. Best of luck

Probably not.....higher levels trims should have even bigger margins..... car makers add a few baubles and toys that cost very little per unit, and trim price goes up several thousands.......for example - add leather and a larger screen, a bigger wheel with fancy paint....and suddenly a truck that cost 40K is up to 60K......it is illogical to believe that a higher trim level actually cost the carmaker that much.....

its price discovery.....at the core of it......car makers have pushed the boundaries ...as to what people are willing to pay.....

it works both ways...

For example - a base truck XLT (35 - 40K CAD).....can be fitted aftermarket with fancy suspension....lightweight rims and really good tires, ARB diff locks, on board air compressors for less than 10K, even a supercharger costs 6-8K, winches are 1-3K.......get all of these and the truck still only becomes worth 50-55K....get Ford to do it and its 70/80K.

It depends on what you are into. Retrofitting mechanical upgrades is feasible. Retrofitting electronics with full integration is not that easy. Think adaptive cruise control and technology package.

Sure, but the point was that its price discovery......car makers keep upping the ante on price by adding baubles that cost nowhere close to increased prices....and some people pay it. This forum alone is testament of how many issues F150s are having with electronics, so that aspect is even more dodgy.......I said my piece.....
