My friend and I have the Volant intake with the PowerCore filter. I've read terrible reviews for this intake but I love it. It has a deep sound to it when you get on it but if you're just cruising down the road it sounds like the stock intake. The only downside that bugs me with this intake is that it doesn't fit in the engine compartment very well, but once you get it into place it seems fit alright. you have to move a few things around to get it to fit somewhat correctly. my friend and I also have the accessory scoop you can get for it, I don't have mine on because the ballasts for my HID's are in the way right now, but my friend has his on and it rubs on the inside of the tire slightly. On a side note, I don't know if you've heard of the "Gotts mod" but they say it does the exact same thing as CAI and it saves you 300 dollars and you don't need a tune.

i have the Air Raid intake tube. not the whole thing with the filter but i read that the stock intake box / K&N filter was fine on the 2006 5.4, just the tube feeding air from the fenderwell was restrictive. i tried it for 129.00 and love it...looks much better, fits well and gives the truck a littel moan to go along with the magnaflo cat back and the edge CTS programmer...

I am running the SPECTRE CAI with an AFE custom filter. Went with the SPECTRE bc its all stainless steel and a very simple design.

So, from what I understand, I will need to get a tuner if I plan on installing a CAI?

very simple to install....opens up the airway so to speak.....and you don't have to have the tuner..i do, but it's not necessary because you are still using the factory airbox at the throttle body. just happens the edge makes use of the AIRAID by having provision for it in their tuner...win win
