I agree. I would really, really like to see more power out of it, but I'm going to chase Fatherford and Blownford one day with my own Whipple.

It looks pretty good for the Triton. I'm hoping mine stays healthy!

I'm very happy with my 2005 5.4. I've only had it a little while and right away I did an oil change, spark plugs, cleaned the MAF, and GOTTS w/ K&N air filter. I just towed my 6x12, with 5500 lbs combined towing and payload, from San Diego to Houston in two days. When I took it easy (65-70 mph) and stayed behind 18 wheelers I was getting over 13 mpg average. When i took it on my own and ran a bit faster (over 70) without drafting it dropped down to around 11 mpg. But she ran solid the whole time, hardly ever turned off the over drive, at one point I forgot I was towing.

yeah I just got my EDGE CS and HOLY SHNIKEYS BATMAN! On extreme with alot of custom changes, the truck is a beast... I noticed the biggest difference in the 20-50 MPH range.. its definitley more responsive from 0 -GO but 20-50 is where I really feel the extra ummpphhh. I had the BullyDog GT before- so happy i got rid of that and got the Edge CS

The 350 in the Chevy trucks are rated lower than the 5.4 in ours... Not all 5.7s in its 50 year existence were the same. That's not to say they were not a good motor though.

From my research the 96-98 Vortec 5.7's put out 255 HP@4600 RPM, 330 LB-FT torque@ 2800 RPM while the 5.4 puts out 300 HP @ 5000 RPM and 365 LB-FT torque at 3500 RPM. While there are other variations of the 5.7 in other vehicles that make different power the 5.7's in the trucks were somewhat anemic, especially when hooked to a trailer. I know this from personal driving experience, not just spewing hate.

I know right? Lol

And I'm not picking on GM's engines, I know the 5.3 and 5.7 V8's are great engines but they just aren't the best towing engines compared to my 5.4 from experience. It's not just the power thing either, my F150 is much more sure footed under load than any of the GM half tons I've towed with. With towing its the whole package that's important to me not just the seat of the pants feel when you hit the go pedal and I've not been disappointed with any of that with my F150.
