Wrong gears selected in tune?
I just bought new wheels and tires for the 2008 XL I bought last year. It came with a Superchips FlashPaq 1815 tuner, which I used to correct the speedometer for the new wheels. When I had the tuner connected I noticed it had 5.13 gears selected. My vin code shows the truck was built with 3.55 gears. I’m assuming it was probably done on accident but is there any reason why this would have been done purposely? What good or bad would be caused by having the wrong gears selected in the tune? Thanks.
I’m assuming the wrong gears being selected would change the shift points. I was hoping somebody wasn’t trying to hide a transmission problem, or having the wrong gears selected might cause some damage. After correcting the gears and the tire size it does seem to shift good and feels a little quicker from a stop.
not going to hurt it, it may effect performance. My Edge programmer will allow me to program shift points and torque converter lock up RPM no matter what gears are in the program.
