won't turn over new starter wont engage
2004 5.4L Lariat
Starter is about 1 year old I don't think that is the problem.
I turn the key and all I hear is a click.
So the battery and starter are good!
This has happened about 4x in the last week.
The previous times I just kept trying and then it started on the 10th or 20th attempt but today no such luck as I was trying to get my daughter to School.
I had to give her $40 and put her in a taxi
I guess I will have it towed to my mechanic but if you guys can tell me what the problem is I'm sure that will save me some bucks.
thanks

What kind of click leads you to believe the starter and battery are good in that situation? I'm not convinced.
I'd check the lead going from the battery to the starter. May have come loose or corroded.

I'm no expert by any means but if the starter and battery are good, perhaps it has something to do with the security system i the truck? Again, this is just an idea... I have no idea why it is doing that. Good luck.

How do you know the battery is good? How many volts are in it? Have you checked all the connections on the battery? These trucks are very picky about the electrical system. I would try a few things before you send it to a mechanic. Have you checked ALL the fuses?

Security system will allow the truck to turn over but not start. Im leaning towards the battery or a connection.

The click is somewhere on the passenger side, inside. Possibly where fuses are.
There is no aftermarket security.

I agree the electrical is picky. My power seats, mirror and pedal stopped working 4 years ago.
