That sux man, did mine at 80k and the all came out no problem, some were a bit tricky but the came out, talked to ford prior and they told me not to run them the full life time they recommend becuase they rust, as im sure you already know doing them at 50k, hopefully he used an anti-seize of some kind on them before putting them back in make your life easier the next time. better luck next time.

Default plug change sucked

I changed my own plugs today on my 05 screw and 3 broke. orielly autoparts sells a plug extraction tool for $100 that pushes the porcelin down to the bottom then you have an ez out tool that works like a puller and they came out fairly easily. You have to make sure and tighten the extraction puller as tight as you can inside the plug end though if you dont it doesnt grab properly and you will have to repeat the process to get it out. Also sunco makes a long 9/16 socket that makes the job much easier as well, I believe matco tools sells it off there trucks. Also the updated tsb says to use carb and choke cleaner and this works very well!

I was at my local Ford Service shop to schedule an oil change (have a cupon!) I asked the service guy about changing my plugs now and he said they recommend waiting till 100K because the plugs are going to break anyway. I argued with the dope for a half hour that the odds are better for me now than in six years of getting them out in one piece. He basically said I'm screwed no matter what so just put it off. They would charge $250 for the plug change with no problems, $500 and up if they break.
