Default wiring gurus needed

hello all, i added some interior lights awhile ago just led strips nothing special but i want them to 1 turn on when i open/shut the door, anyone know the hot wire in the driver side glob of wires under the trip that i would need to tap in for this? also if i tap in there and then splice it the hot wire for my lights in another location and run it to my amp so it pulses with my sub(how its set up now just not spliced to turn on with door) will it do any harm being spliced in two different locations for a power source? thanks

I'm not 100% positive to this, but running it to your amp won't allow it to turn on and off with the sub. If anything running it to your amp will just provide power when you turn on your radio and have it stay fully lite on with the radio on. As going to two power source... Again not 100% on this but i want to say it will just conflict, your interior lights will turn it on and if your radio is on, both will be feeding power and I want to say your LEDs are running 20-22 gauge wire and the interior light is a 18 gauge. I just tapped into my interior light going 18 gauge to 18 gauge and I put an inline fuse in to protect it. Now for the wire, remove your parking break, 1 bolt, then lift it up and pull towards you (away from the engine) there's a clip that hooks in. So now that's out of your way, you will see a huge harness with a bolt in the center. Looking at it, look at the side closes to your exterior and about 5 hole down you will see a black wire with a light blue strip. That's the wire to tap into.

ok thanks, as for the amp, i have them hooked up to it right now... you just put the power in the power positive feed for the speaker wire which would normally go to the sub, and then negative to negative, they pulsate with the sub if the sub isnt bumping they are not on (which is what i wanted and how i like it) but i wanted to tap into the door so when i open the door my interior lights up bright then shuts off when door shuts and then they go back on when i strat bumping to some tunes. my thoughts anyways haha

For your plan you would need to install a diode in both lines feeding the light strip of the sub would turn on when you opened your door and your map light would turn on when ever your sub hit

Radio shack will have what you need and they will also be able to help you a little more with the exact one you will need

I think it is the black lb wire as stated but when I get home tonight I will get the qiring diagrams and check. I will also go into ms paint and draw you a schematic to illustrate what you need to do with the diode. I personally would use two diodes they can be gotten at radio shack in packs of two. How are u with soldering?

Here you go man, this should accomplish what you want to do

That will allow you to have the amp light the lights without making your whole courtesy lamp system. You could probably do it with just the diode between the black/blu wire but the diodes are sold in packs of two and the two combined completely isolates both systems from one another.
