Default Is it an FX4???

I just bought a new to me pickup and every website i input the vin to research the vehicle comes back as it being an FX4. It doesn't have the FX4 sticker on the rear end like most do, just the regular 4x4 like an XLT. Does anyone know how i can find out what it is? thanks

The VIN is the best way to determine that. You can also check to see if it has fog lights, a skid plate under the front suspension, and an "FX4" logo in the instrument panel.

The FX4 couldve been a package added onto a Lariat, I think. Or the person couldve taken off that sticker.

If you mean fog lights in the bumper, I have those and mines an XLT. Also, the interior will say fx4 on it along with the cluster, unless they added it on to a lariat like previously said.

Skid plates are an option on non-FX4 trims.

What kind of gauge cluster do you have? The FX4 models have a distinctive cluster with gauges for speedo, rpm, gas, battery meter and oil level.

I think only the FX4's with flow through consoles have the FX4 logo in the cluster. If you have an FX4 with the standard 60/40 seat I don't think it says FX4 on it.

I'm pretty sure your right, since the cluster FX4 is in place of the gear indicator.

I think all of the FX series trucks (whether FX2 or 4) have the carbon fiber interior treatment.
