MHOWELL34, please forgive my ignorance but I have some wiring questions for the oil gauge install. I see you have the wire tap from fuse 22, which is obvious acc/radio power, then the ground wire from the bolt under the steering wheel, then the wire coming off the oil filter sandwich sending unit. Do all 3 wires attach to the oil pressure gauge? Thanks!

So what gauge did you use? It used those 3 wires?

All 3 wires attached to my gauge. I used a VDO 1/4 sweep. There's a back light requiring a 4th wire of you want it to work with the dimmer switch. I just hooked it to the hot and ground and it stays on one brightness.

Thanks man. Can you recommend a good gauge? Is VDO the brand? The Sunpro doesnt get the best reviews on Amazon, but would match my interior great.

Glowshift gauges seem to be a popular choice.

On a side note, does anyone know if the sandwich adapter for the oil filter is interchangeable between the 5.4L and the 5.0L? I planned on doing this modification to my 2006 FX4 but traded it in and still have the adapter and gauges....

Yep. Trans gauge to match. Got both from my Napa store in town.

SunPro is autozone's brand. I put one in on one of our fire trucks that worked fine for years if you're worried about reliability. It was a 95 F700 with a 7L 429 that ran on propane.

Sorry, meant to say SunPro is a brand that AutoZone sells. It was hard to go back and edit on my phone.

Thanks, I may have to check at Autozone. Next I just need to see if it will fit where my change holder hole is where the 4x4 switch is on 4 wheel drives.

Autometer is also a great gauge, I haven't had any issues with mine (although it is for trans temp) and it fit into my change holder. 2-1/16 was the size I used.
