Yep, me also X 3 windows so far. This should have been a recall and I tried but to no avail

Ford doesn't give a flying f### about its customers. Our trucks are great looking but full of design flaws and quality issues.

We carry window regulator for for trucks. We have them kitted up too, if you lose more than one at the same time.

I knew I couldn't be the only one! Of course it has to happen in August in Texas! Driving along when it sounded like someone hit my truck with a baseball or something. Then, down goes the window! I'll pull the panel off tonight and rig up something to keep the window up until the necessary parts arrive. What a pain!

less than two hours start to finish and that includes about 50 minutes of going to get the part.

On a positive note, the EXTRA CAB regulator is about $20 cheaper than the STD and CREW CAB parts. My extra cab needed part number 430 instead of 428. I have no idea what is different but I'm glad I saved a few bucks.

Also, the DORMAN part came with a pigtail to reverse the polarity and even a nice note explaining that on the 04/05 models it may be necessary. I was prepared to cut and solder the wires if needed so a nice factory looking pigtail was appreciated.

Over all it was one of the more straight forward repairs I've done.

Driving home today my 04 super crew rear passenger window regulator broke. Loud bang scared me and my son enough to pull over and check if we had been hit or something. Checked in bed and looked at body panels that's when we noticed rear window starting to sink into window well. Researched the issue on this post and then took off door panel after seeing great YouTube how to vids. Bought a Dorman part from Advance to pick up in store using a coupon and got out for $82. Taped window up and ready with more YouTube knowledge to swap it out tomorrow. Thanks for a great site.

Here is a very good helpful link to understand removal of door panel and the workings of the regulator part. One or two pieces of duct tape from top of door frame to the glass from inside will hold your glass up until the repair is done

Finished my remove and replace of the Dorman 741-969 regulator in about 30 minutes. It was very straight forward and easy repair. The removal of the vapor barrier entirely is not necessary, instead peel it down to uncover to the bottom edge of the largest cavity and let it hang down. Mine had a bead of tacky black adhesive that I actually helped separate as I peeled with a razor blade. Then once the remove and replace of the regulator is done then press it back up making the adhesive contact back on original spots. Really satisfying to tackle something like this and saving a ton over shop repair. Great forum!

I've had my 2004 F150 for nearly 11 years and had to replace 3 of these during that time. Twice on the driver's side and once on the passenger.

The last time I took it in for replacement, the mechanic told me he has the same vehicle and has the same problem with his. He mentioned that as soon as I hear any sort of grinding noise when rolling the window up or down that I should bring it in.

Last week, I noticed there is a grinding sound coming from the driver side window again. It's been about 3 years, so I guess it's time for a repeat. It does still work, just it's making a cable grinding noise when in motion.

Does anyone know if this can be saved? I'd obviously rather address the problem in advance if I can rather than waiting for it to fall at an inopportune time.
