120K Miles on my 05 FX4, some hard mountain driving. Flush every 30-40K, so far no problems.

Just got off the phone with Ford. Transmission is completely roasted. Apparently its a common issue with them and Ford doesn't back you up on the issue. Surprise surprise. Looking at a $3000+ bill to get a new transmission installed.

Only at 34k miles on my 4yr old 2006 F150, which I purchased brand new. Tranny was flushed at 31k miles. P/S & X-Case to be flushed this week. Next month plan to flush the brakes and rear diff. No problems with any area of the truck, top to bottom.

Also had a 2002 F150 prior to this, which if not for an accident, I would still own. Anyways, I never had any issues with that F150 either. And no, I'm not trying to be a homer, just stating it how it has been with those two trucks.

Most the time it comes down to upkeep and how well you maintain your truck and what type of abuse you put the truck through. I tow, but only 5-6 times a year and only about 6k lbs. Also, I rarely ever get over 2200-2500rpms. Don't romp the truck or put it through any extraordinary type of abuse. Tires are only 33", when stocks were 32". So I rarely if ever put the tranny or any component to a strenuous workout.

Yo, Georgia,
You priced having a clutch job done these days? Also, if you shell a standard trans, they just throw it away and sell you a new one. They are unrebuildable. Or maybe there just aren't very many guys left, who know how to take one apart and put it back together.

I don't wanta hear no b!tching about trannys going out because you guys haven't had as much troule as me. I went through 3 transmissions in 10 days. The first one was wear and tear and the other two were the tranny shops fault.

Its called a manual valve body with floor shifter, harder shifts at any rpm and no stuiped clutch to burn up :P

http://www.everdrive.com/partdetails.aspx?sku=4044709

You might look for other options than $3k. This site has one for $949. You would just have to find someone to install it.

Is that a used or rebuilt trans? And the $3k price is the parts/labor for a new OEM transmission.
