Default Why do our Ford ovals fade?!

I have a 2007 FX4 and I've noticed the front and rear Ford ovals began to discolor, I pressed on the oval and it only made it worse...what the?! Any idea how to correct and/or prevent this from happening? I can live with the front because I want to replace it with a FX2 grille, but the rear looks awful! I've seen new emblems going for like $40, so last resort i'll go in that direction...but if I do, I don't want this problem again!

I just replaced the front emblem on my 07 XL along with an XLT grill - from what I understand they were made in some third world country with slave labor using baby seal's intestines as whips, so the quality isn't the best.
I picked up one from TASCA, 28.00 shipped thru eBay...or you can do a custom overlay for around 10.00...

I wonder if there is a way to prevent it? Maybe a light clear coat if I buy a new one?

Idk I have an 04 f150 and my emblems aren't fading or anything. But I have seen many with the plastic chipping off and the paint fading out.... Doesn't make any since why they would change how they make and emblem from year too year.... Idk..

The clear film on my front emblem was bubbling so I had it replaced under warranty. This was a couple of weeks ago so the original lasted around 2.5 yrs.

The back one looks fine.

They didn't change how they were made they changed who made them, a new company with a cheaper bid took over the emblems in 2006. In early 2008 I believe they switched back to the original company that was making them after they noticed the bubbling problem

If anything chips, cracks or otherwise breaks the seal that the clearcoat creates it will get moisture behind there and fade it. I already replaced my front one from a rock hitting it. My rear one looks like sh/t from me bumpin it with the car wash sprayer.
