Why did I end up with more than 2.5" from my leveling kit?

Default Why did I end up with more than 2.5" from my leveling kit?

I've come to the conclusion that the amount of lift I got out of my NCD Customs 2.5" leveling kit is really closer to 3". Here's the confusing part. The kit is advertised as a 2.5" lift, but the spacer is actually 1.75" tall... the same height as other manufacturers advertising a 3" lift. I think that the correct spacer height for a 2.5" is actually 1 5/8".

NCD advertises their lift as a "true 2.5" but it definitely is more. I've read about the issues with premature balljoint wear that the 3" kits can cause. How severe of a problem is this and when can I expect to have to replace them since it looks like I ended up with a 3" instead of a 2.5". Can anyone chime in on the correct spacer height for a 2.5" leveling kit?

I'm a little pissed if I ended up with a leveling kit that wasn't as advertised. The last thing I want to do is wear out parts on my brand new truck.

It seems like it tends to settle a small amount after you put some miles on your truck. MIne ended up getting about 2.75 after all. I will post some pics for you tomorrow so you can see my 06.

I went with Hellbents 2.5 inch kit and now my front is a hair higher than the rear
On a positive note, I had a trusted alignment shop do the install (only charged $150.00 and alighned it too) and as they were installing they checked for severity of the angle. In their opinion it isn't too severe and we shouldn't have anything to worry about. Like I said, I trust this shop. They are a front end specialty shop, not just a mom and pop general service shop.

That's good to know. Still, I wish someone would chime in who's had problems occur from running the 3" kit.

Thanks. I'd like to see that.

On a totally separate note, what's the origin of your screen name?

Funny. A lot of my friends and buddies at the office call me Klink. My last name is Kluenker (pronounced Klinker)... go figure. It's more German than it's worth.

i live in a small town in indiana that has a very strong german background... so in the local liquor store hangs a sign... it reads: you can tell a german but you cant tell them much. My wife is german also so not meaning to make anyone irritated.
