when you reverse the gotts mod, did you disconnected the battery for 30 minutes? if not , the computer may still thinking that you have the mod on... i.e. that more air should be coming.

i think it was 30 minutes what i read somewhere here. but i dont have any way to confirm what amount is needed. i guess the idea should be to discharge some capacitors or something like that. you can always leave it with the battery disconnected overnight.

on the other hand, how old are your spark plugs? how is the alignment/balance of your tires?

Tek,

The OP has a 4.6L. Outside of the fact that some of them are a PITA to get to, he won't have the same issues as the 5.4L.

I got ~19 mpg in my '08 XLT 4.6L on my way to the Texas Panhandle a few months ago. If I remember correctly I had just changed the oil at 30k(full synthetic) miles, and was running around 70 majority of the time except through small towns and it was around 75 outside due to the rain. Either I miscalculated or all of those factors made for a great trip Also I keep my tires at 38 psi.

Default Spark plugs

Ok, I ran into a friend that I've known for the better part of my life, he's a mechanic, he's worked for almost all the american auto makers, as of right now he works at Ford.
I asked him about the spark plugs, what he told me about removal.

1. You have to be patient and let whatever you're using to soak in.
2. He's done spark plug replacements, where trucks with 30k on them and they've snapped off, and he's had trucks that had over 90k on them and the set came out easily. Every engine is going to produce different amounts of whatever by product, ie carbon, whatever.
3. His suggestion, do it yourself, take extra time so you don't have to rush the job, get the plugs, the Lisle tool, and the grease, hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.
It's not a flaw in the vehicle, it's a flaw in the spark plug.

If you need more info, there's really LONG and awesome post on here from GatorB8. Don't get scared, just face your fears and get er done, if you break one, so be it.

You guys are needlessly scaring the OP.

He doesn't have a 5.4, hence, he doesn't have the spark plug issues you're talking about.
