Where are you guys buying your motorcraft oil?
Im about to do my first oil change on my 06 5.4L since i had the cam phasers etc replaced... well, on amazon its $6 a quart, and more elsewhere online... my searches indicate everyone gets it at walmart, but it appears that it isnt available at walmart?
i don'twant to start an oil debate by any means, but after doing those cam phasers, i was planning on running exactly what ford wants me to run... but now that motorcraft isnt at walmart, is there anywhere else that sells it cheap?
should i bite the bullet and go with it for $42 an oil change?
is there anywhere considerably cheaper that has it?
or should i go to mobile 1 5w-20 which can be had for $4/quart?

It's like eating your cereal with X or Y or Z milk brand. Milk is milk

As long as the oil you buy meet the standards requirements by your owner's manual, you can buy the brand you want... If you want to pay a little more for a peace of mind, go for it! If you want to save a little, go for it! But IMO, I'd buy whatever good brand is on sale at the time you need some.

Check out the price of "the works" at the dealer. Might be your least expensive alternative and they should be using MC oil.

Or simply an upgrade... Ford Motorcraft is a semi-syntec blend I believe, which is useless according to me. You either go with dinosaur oil or full syntec. If you can buy syntec oil for the price of or for less than the OE oil, go for it...

Was the failure of your cam phasers attributed to your choice of oil? What were you using prior to the phasers being replaced?

I don't know if you have a BJ's Wholesale where you live but I pay 27 bucks for 6 quarts(case) of full synthetic Mobil 1, cheapest around my area.
