Default Solid Ladder aids getting passed the endgate

For my 2012 Supercrew with 20" tires, getting in and out of the short bed was getting to be work for a 64 year old like me. I found this ladder for under $40 (under $50 includes some of my 'up grades'), and that helps both my body and budget. Here's my take on it:

Amazon.com: Traxion Tailgate Ladder 5-100: Automotive Amazon.com: Traxion Tailgate Ladder 5-100: Automotive

Traxion company was bought out by another company who then removed the plastic plugs that once were used on the bottom ends of the ladder itself where it contacts the ground. Said they wouldn't let the rain out and caused rusting.... They also reduced the Velcro strappings to just one. I called the company on both issues. They are not using the plastic any longer for 'said reason', but were very willing to send a second nylon/Velcro strap, metal tab, and both lengths of screws. The ladder should then be securely be held down with the second strap in place on the other ladder side piece.

Amazon had the cheapest price on this product, being under $40.00 now that they started collecting 8.25% Texas Sales Tax... The ladder side frame gets it's strength because the upper long pivot arms telescope inside itself. The steps are welded in place on the top and underside of each step with a gas wire welder. The weld bead does not go all the way across any of the step joints and the thin-wall tubing is my 'guess' is the reason for the 250lb. weight limit. Like the steps on a wooden ladder, I may run a 3/8" all-thread through the two middle steps for added load strength and cap the threads with acorn nuts on the end for an added expense of $8.00.

For the money, it beats crawling/climbing up on the closed or open end gate of my Ford F-150 with 20" tires, so I'll give it 4-Stars out of 5. Here's a quick install video:

Just took a better look, realized they are not stock. Gear alloys or something like that?

Just remember that other drivers won't be able to see you as well.....Run your lights early mornings, dusk, and gray weather days.... Had a lady pull out in front of a shiny dark car without lights on just as dusk hit. The perfect picture of a "T-bone" collision!! The court ruled in favor of the dark car with no lights because it was in those 'legal' minutes the old driver's handbook tells about when you should turn on your lights.

It's steel tubing with powder coating on the outside. I many have to spray or run a paint-soaked rag through the side legs so the inside doesn't rust.

Default mirror turns and running LEDs

Hey McGee,
Thanks for the diagram but question, will that work for doing the LED running and turns on the front side of the mirrors like in the attached video? I think he said he put in a resistor and a diode to make it work. I am a mechanical guy, not an electrician so I don't know exactly how he did this mod. Can you elaborate on this if you can? (or anyone else that may know as well)

Thanks,

That would be the exact same wiring as the diagram pretty simple as long as the resistor doesn't pull to much power out of the running light
