I know it was stupid..
Men, I just plunked down 3700$ on an 06 with 201k on it. Guy was asking 4700. She runs great, no ticking or strange noises whatsoever. I ran the vin.... It was a 1 owner truck from a local guy with no accidents. I am ASSUMING at this mileage with no manifold noise or ticking, that the major timing compenents have been done. I know I will have to do the phazers, but initially I want to do both vct solenoids and changed to an oil with high detergents in it like Pennzoil and change my diff/tcase fluids. I looked at the filler cap and it was clean...no milkshake. What i couldn't check was the idle oil pressure...

If you have no noises after the oil change, I don't see where you'd have much to worry about, even if the timing stuff hadn't been changed out. Far and away, the majority of this gen truck has not had their timing equipment replaced. Just keep money on the side "just in case."

If it is not acting up just keep up on the basic maintenance. Poor maintenance is usually the reasoning behind these trucks problems. If you do that it shouldn't matter how many miles it has.

Just like any other high mileage vehicle, be prepared to have to work on it. Things will break. I wasn't planning on buying another high mileage vehicle, but then found my 04 extended cab at just the right price. I have work that needs to be done already, but I knew that going in. My previous high mileage car was my 04 Golf TDI, it had 185k miles on it when I got it, and it's about to tick over 260k now.

LOL, Well I must've suffered from some blood loss to the brain while checking out this rig. After the oil change she's a little noisy on start up, but for the most part quiets down at normal temps. I can't expect a 200k motor not to make some noise, so we'll roll with this and see what happens. #Holding breath for the next 3000mi

If it is noisy at a cold start but quiets after it warms up, and is a ticking sound I'd lean towards an exhaust leak in the manifold. Cracked or broken studs.
