Default What year should I get (04-08)?

Hey there,

I'm shopping around for an 04-08 FX4 Screw, I was just wondering if there were any differences that you guys know of that I should consider when deciding what year to get.

For example, I heard that it got a new transmission in 2006, would that mean I should be aiming for an 06-08?

Thanks

i would go for a '07 or a '08. depending on the build date of the '08 it would have the newer heads so you will not have to deal with the 2 piece sparkplug.

Get a truck with a motor date of 10/09/07 or later. One piece plugs.

Agree with the above, life is too short to deal with 2 piece spark plugs.

I would say go for as much as you can afford in the latest model with least amount of miles. Good condition also plays a part in that...

If budget forces you to get an 04-06, just make sure that the big few things have been taken care of, and use the some of the smaller things as negotiating tools.

I wouldn't say the spark plugs are that much of pain in the ***. I say the cam phasers are a bigger problem.

Depending on your budget I wouldn't go older then 2-3 years. You are just increasing the risk of problems that the vehicle will have the older you go.

They are selling base xl's now for about 23k. May be worth yourwhile to go new depending on budget. In Toronto I've seen some people try to get more for a used 2 year old f150 then a new one because of the hefty discounts now.

If you purchase a used truck, look for a low mileage vehicle from the south or the west. Too much damage from salt in most of the north eastern states.ook for sales by individuals - not car lots. I found a low mileage '04 in New Mexico last year. Very good condition and no rust whatsoever. has a 4.6 V8. Runs and drives great.

if you get a 4.6 I would recommend a 08. They had 13 more hp for the year 247hp. My 4.6 doesnt feel like a dog like everyone else complains about. It moves decent.

Agreed, mine moves pretty good, might be because of the stock 3.73 gears. How can I get the extra HP the 08s got?
