Well I've checked my u joints ball joints sway bar links and they all LOOK fine, still can't solve the issue of the clunk/bottom out feeling over speed bumps and I also found this....

Used to be a exhaust hanger

LAR1AT 01-14-2013 09:46 PM

Ah ok so this isn't an issue? Sorry for the ignorance but this forum is my step to being my own mechanic...

Yes, looks like previous owner did some exhaust mods maybe.

Grab your tailpipe ( when its cold of course) Shake that thing, if its still underneath your truck. Listen to the noise and see how much movement it has. You definitely need your exhaust re-hung. again...If its still undeneath there

I'm guessing your exhaust is dumped lol which even when I did my home brew 3" glass pack dumped I reused the first hanger and slid the hangers out the rubber not cut them lol

i just chased down a noise under my cab. it turned out to be my muffler. the U bolt that was used to hold two pipes together came loose and the muffler was able to slide back and forth. took my mig welder to it and welded it up. fixed the problem.

just go around and shake your exhaust.

nice to see a neighbor on here lol actually now that i think about it, i think i said something like that in another thread.

How much did that run you?

LAR1AT 01-14-2013 10:42 PM

Found it, the exhaust is under my truck and seems like its pretty well placed. I've narrowed down so much but I still can't figure out the clunk/bottom out and I don't want to pay$90 just to be told what's wrong. What do I look for in my leaf springs to tell if they're bad??
