what would you do next
hey guys i have 04 f150 ive done the leveling kit cold air intake and throttle body spacer and exhuast. what would you do next Im thinking programmer i have read a lot of treads talking up the gryphon. whats your thoughts? and has any one put a block heater on the 5.4 have done 4.0 in my 99 explorer was pretty easy to access kinda worried about the f150

I'd be interested in the block heater. I snowplow in the winter and will be using the truck to tow bobcats and would love to jump into a truck and have the engine warm. Although not sure I'm ready for the high electric bill.

in fairbanks Ak its a must have if you want your cars to start in sub zero temps if you do do it nrd10 just hook it up to a el cheapo timer up here we only need to have them on for 2-3 hours before you start you car also if you want faster warm ups in the winter just place a piece of card board in front of you radiator just keep a eye on your temp you may have to cut a hole in the center to keep from over heating but in my explorer with a home made cardboard cold front and the block heater i can start it at 40 below and it will be up to reg temp in about 15 -20 min at idle

also, you will not notice much on the elec bill |
I'm not so sure about the bill part. Our company has a few diesel trucks that get plugged in during the winter months and I see the difference on the electric bill. Maybe that is just because its a diesel versus a gas motor and it draws more power. Either way I may consider looking into a block heater just because of the winters. Now in VA it never gets below 0 but anything below 30 degrees is cold to me.

All this talk about block heaters....obviously if you live in ak thats a must. Have you upgraded tires to go with the leveling kit? You will need those in the winter too if your wanting a complete snow machine....

it has 285 70 17 hankook dynapros on it when i bought it then i put the level kit the tires only 1500 miles on them so it will be a little bit before i upgrade my tires again

I say go with the programmer. The gryphon I hear is nice, but I haven't spent the money yet to send my edge out to get it re badged. I'm happy with just the edge.

I lived in Alaska for years and yes I have done the 5.4 piece of cake. same as chevy 350. have no worries bro just take your time and do it right. mid dec is no time to find out that you got it wrong. Seekins is no place to get it done though.
As far as keeping the block warm you were correct being as how the electrode is in the antifreeze Ohh well good to see another Alaskan on here! |
