Zerex G-05 and distilled water when flushed a few months back. It was $18 ish at Advance Auto.

I must be getting old! I remember when we used to drink TAP water and, basic antifreeze worked just fine in any vehicle.

I replaced my hoses a few years back when I had the front cover off the engine and I used motorcraft gold to refill.

We used tap water in all our vehicles growing up. They cooled fine, but were prone to early failure - corrosion and serious buildup internally. We went through a lot of radiators. Each one that died looked like a coral reef on the inside LOL. My radiator serviced with distilled water and quality coolant looks great after over 100k miles of use.

Ford orange is about 30 a gallon. (Gallon diluted equals 8 quarts) My truck calls for 17 quarts.

So 2 gallons equal 60 bucks plus 12 dollar flush and I am at 72 bucks plus disposal and my free labor. Dealership charges about 120.

So while 48 bucks is a tank of gas, for this service is it worth letting the dealer do?
