Default What’s this plug behind the upper console?

Recently bought a 2008 Supercrew and found this plug coming out of a hole someone cut in the ceiling. Any idea what it was used for?

Does the truck have an aftermarket cargo/truck bed light? Or can you tell what direction the wire runs (i.e. toward the back of the truck)?

I guess I would look for anything that was not original equipment in the direction of the wire path, because I am guessing that the hole was cut because the aftermarket part wire was not long enough to reach the original connector. Just a guess though.

No after market anything, but I’ll poke around to see where the wire leads. Maybe if was for a screen for people in the back to watch?

Took a look as much as I could and the wire seems to go to the front of the truck. But don’t see anything unusual in the dash, or exterior.

Found this. It's supposedly a quote from an engineer with the company that designed the overhead rail system Ford used:
"The harness found on 05's when removing the bin is an aux power harness. it has 12V always, 12V accessory switched, and ground. it is there for future bins like motorola 2 way radios with charging kit, and other future products that need power. It is not a harness to the audio system unfortunatley."

I believe that the upper trim levels came with an entertainment system option which was added to the rail system and that is probably the power for it.
