About the only thing the 4.6 could use is 3.73+ gears in the rear end. If you've ever driven one with a 3.08 gearset, you'll understand why people claim them to be a horrible dog.

I agree with this, but I do like the current gas mileage on my 06 4.6 compared to my older 97 F150 4.6 with 373 gears.

You shouldn't have any motor issues, solid engine for sure. I had an 05' that I worked hard and she never gave me any issues, only sold it because it just wasn't enough motor to pull my travel trailer (did it, just didn't like it).

And Scorge is currently building a mail box for his cardboard box

I drive an 04 with the 4.6 with 215k miles at my work. It’s rusty and the 4wd only works sometimes, but truck drives great. I drive it all over the state and it doesn’t give my any engine related issues ever.
