Ok, for the most part it's normal. It's never stalled but idles so low it always makes me think about it.

The high rpm is normal at start up! Assists in the engine warm up! People come in a ask about this quite often at the dealer ship I work at! Average optimum idle for the 5.4 is about 550-650! Mines is 500 ish because I have cams but normal is the 550-600

Mines about 550... I sometimes think my truck has stalled its so quiet. Fuel rail pressure is a consistent 39 - 40

Well my truck DID stall out a few times which prompted me to clean my throttle body. It stalled 3 times in one day 3 days after... My idle was sitting around 500 when warm and in gear. I raised the idle on my edge 50 rpm's to about 575, and it has not stalled since.

Is anybody getting any random stalling with their idle below 550 rpm's when coming to a stop???

What is everybody's idle (in gear) with custom tunes? _______rpm's. any stop light stalling?

What is everybody's idle (in gear) with stock tunes? _______rpm's. any stop light stalling?

I was starting to think I was crazy for idling around 500.. Guess not...

If that's where my truck is supposed to idle (its an 04), then its really starting to seem like a custom tuning or throttle body issue..(bad TPS, or servo)

Keep em coming! Include the year of your vehicle too.
