Default What to choose! 295/70/18 or 285/65/18

I want trail grapplers and these are te 2 sizes I'm hung up on... I'm afraid the 295/70 will affect my power too much and will definitely rub when I go with my wheels I want but unsure when ill be getting them... Then I'm afraid the 285/65 will look to small .. I have a 275/70/18 on it now.. It's 4x4 with a 2.5 level

Ummmm the 285's will be the same height (close enough) as the 275's you already have. Before wear and tear of course. Next you might get asked for the use of your truck or if its for looks. And idk those tires but if you do not spend time off road then get a "less aggressive" tire because aggressive tread looks STUPID when it gets worn because of all the used up tread. And there are some tires out that actually do well in mud and stuff for those in the moment situations!! Lol but again idk those tires just givin you something to think of hope I helped

I have been going through the same situation. I just bought 285 Trail's going on 18x9 Fuel wheels. They should be here next week, so I don't have any input for you really. The reason I went with the 285's instead of the 295's is 1. I didn't want to do any trimming and 2. I wanted the clearance when I do go off roading. I hope I made the right decision. When they come, I will check it all out before I have them install everything. I still may change my mind and go with 295's ; )

Ya the 285 will be a **** hair shorter then my 275/70's and the 295/70's will be slightly taller... Both will be wider which is what I want and Ill put them in the mud every chance I get and I don't like the street look of a A/T... I like aggressive tread and a aggressive side wall... The price difference between the 285/65 and the 295/70 is only $7 so this is a rather tough decision... If it was a big diff I'd just get the cheaper one lmao

Well I have absolutely no rubbing and have full travel everywhere without issue. I do a lot of offroading and didn't want to worry about rubbing at all. When I get aftermarket rims I think I'll go with a 33x12.50 but I like mine for now.

Kinda off topic but can you post a pic of your truck with the 275/70/18? That's the size I'm looking to go with... Thanks in advance!

A 275/70 is about a 33.1 inch tire while the 285/65 is a 32.44, so over a half inch difference there

What's the size diff between 33x12.50 and the 285's?

A 285/65r18 is 32.6" tall and 11.2" wide. A 33x12.50 is equivalent to a 315/60r18. So it's just .4" taller but 1.3" wider. This would be a little better offroad and give it a little more aggressive stance. They were just a little wider than I wanted to go on stock rims with stock offset and back spacing because of my fear of rubbing. With the correct offset and back spacing though, you could run 33x12.50 tires with a 2.5" level without rubbing
