This truck had 3" body lift. I hit a Dodge Ran at 45MPH. Body didn't come off the frame!

oof! Looks like a hell of a hit. That was a handsome truck, I hate to see it tore up like that. Did the insurance company total it?

Show me facts about body coming off frame if it has a body lift? If use a quality body lift, you won't have a problem.

No myths here my friend, take it or leave it.

I noted that another poster said it reduces bed capacity, not me.

I am not going to attempt to dig up reports of accidents but rest assured it has occured. I am not talking of bodies flying off of frames but damage to mounts and bodies moving over. Yes it does happen and no not everytime. Having family as both insurance adjuster and appraisers I have seen first hand the extra damage that can happen and have seen reports of insurance companies not covering body mount aspects due to the modification not being divulged prior to the accident.

It is a simple concept to understand, longer bolts, more leverage.

I doubt you would argue that they do nothing for suspension, simply make room.

They look bad, personal opinion, unless on a heavily lifted truck where the visuals are overcome by height.

It's a poor mans lift and should be limited to 1", 2" at the very most.

Yes it was totaled. Was only 11 months old and had 17k miles on it. First pic was in the 2004 New Orleans World of Wheels. Took 1st place best in class, one month later the accident happen. The guy in the Ram was ejected and was in a como for 2 months.

Sorry for your loss

Of course the body did not come off, the impact was frontal thus absorbing most of the impact. I would suggest checking out the body lift at the rad cradle but I suspect they would not far well either way, body lift or not.

Impacts directly to the cab or box are a bigger issue.

Nice rig, are you building another?

I did build another. Lightning powered with 12# of boost, 38"s, you name it, it had it. Ran 14.56@91mph in the 1320. Sold it about 3yrs ago to a guy in FL, he just sold it yesterday to another guy in FL. Now I have a 2013 FX2.

I know about the skyjacker and rancho 6in lift kits but I can't shell out that kind of money. Thanks in advance.
As much as I agree that a suspension lift is much better than the combo your talking about, I do, however, agree that a level kit and a body lift are very good options to use together for the money. If all you want is your truck higher without expecting additional performance, it's a great idea. For only about $500-$600, you can get your truck up in the air 5" or so. Just don't expect anything else out of it other than good looks.

Hahaha, I get that question all the time. And here's the answer I give people. Those two lifted truck stayed cleaner than most Lamborghinis. They never seen mud and only a dirty road a few times. So it was only a look I was after not ability. So this go round I spend the "4x4" money on the 402a package and I like the painted body pieces so the FX package was a must. I threw a 2.5" front and 1.25 rear lift and some 33s to get the 4x4 look.

Now that I'm older, married, baby on the way it's more practical to not have a sky high truck.
