Default What is a body lift kit.?

Can someone explain what a body lift kit is? I want to lift my truck up a little more than it is and one of my friends said something about a body lift kit. I already have a 3.5 spacer and a 3in block on the truck now. Also can I stack a body lift with the lift I have currently. I know about the skyjacker and rancho 6in lift kits but I can't shell out that kind of money. Thanks in advance.

A body lift if just what the name says it is. It's a 3" block that lifts the body off the frame to give you more room to fit bigger tires. You currently have a suspension lift on your truck so YES you could put a body lift on it as well. They are cheap $250ish(may not be exact been 10yrs since I bought one) the labor of the install is what steers most people away. Look to pay 300-600 to have it installed.

Body lift is exactly how it sounds. It only lifts the body off the frame of the truck. I've seen a few trucks with big body lifts and I think it looks dumb because there is a huge gap between their bumper and tailgate. My opinion

Id be willing to bet that is mostly old Chevys and Toyota. Now they make bumper relocation brackets which closes that gap.

I agree that BL look like *** on small suspension lifted trucks. Only big suspension lifted truck they don't looks so bad on cause the truck is already so high the attention isn't focused on the gap where frame meets the body.

hahahaha it's true! I've seen em on old Chevys and it looks dumb. I have the 3" front and 2.5" rear level kit. If I wanted to go bigger but not crazy id do a 4" suspension lift. If ur going to spend some cash on making ur truck bigger, do the suspension lift

Why?

They don't look the best but are completely fine. I have had 2 body lifted trucks and never had a issue with either.

They do nothing to improve suspension.

They look bad by exposing more frame under the truck.

They put stress on the body mounting points by more leverage due to longer bolts. There has been more then one body lifted truck that has come off the frame in an accident.

As noted by another poster in another thread, it may reduce your payload in the box due to the reason above.

Overall it is a cheap way to make room for big tires that has numerous draw backs.

All myths... Body lifts are fine... If you can overlook the frame hanging out some.

They don't reduce tow capacity, Hitch or bed lol...

Show me facts about body coming off frame if it has a body lift? If use a quality body lift, you won't have a problem.
