What does COP stand for ? Is it a big deal also ? I am worried it will be alot. im new to this also . It does it more then half the time and i think you gotta be going at a decent speed also for it to do that

It stands for coil over plug. You have 8 of them, one for each plug. Each plug has its own coil that can individually fail. It's about a $65 part from Ford and is a do-it-yourself repair. Just be careful disconnecting the wiring harness on the COP so you don't snap off the prong that holds it in place. There are cheaper after market alternatives but most stick with Motorcraft. Once you get a code (you may have a pending code now that can be read by the correct reader), you can narrow down which COP is failing.

Hard to say on causing the CEL to come on but you could have it read for free at most auto parts stores to see if there is a pending or stored code in the system. Then search the code on-line to get a better indication of what is wrong.
Back to your original post, does this happen only when you are taking it easy during acceleration or anytime, whether you get on it hard or easy? If only when you are taking it easy, then the torque converter is another suspect. If all the time, then I agree with the others on the COP(s).

Two of my COPs went out at 49k and 59K therefore given that the Motorcraft haven't heldout well for me I have no issue with going aftermarket. The symptoms are more likely to show up during light throttle usually cruising around 50MPH. The CEL might take a while to show up bcz the missfire has to occur and be significant enough to be picked up 3 times during three start up cycles. To speed up the process what I've done is taken the truck out on the highway, turned of overdrive and gun it a few times. This will make the misfire audible and shld cause the CEL light to blink. Repeat the process a couple of times and you should end up with a missfire code that will direct you to the cylinder with the bad COP
