Want to update my '05 XLT gauge cluster

Apparently it's an Oregon thing because another dealer's Service Manager said they're not even allowed to transfer the data. Looks like I'll just pass on it or get an overlay. Someone mentioned removing / reinstalling the gauge needles correctly but there are inexpensive tools available called "spoons" that watchmakers use for basically the same thing.
This "want" will probably go in the trash & I'll mod something else - maybe get some pink velour seat covers.

I would leave it as is before I added gauge overlays. Otherwise, if you really want to swap, buy the cluster and swap when your truck hits the same mileage as the new cluster. That’s exactly what I did.
Only reason I swapped clusters was because my curiosity lead me to remove the needles, reinstall them, notice they weren’t in the same spots as before. Went to remove again and broke a stepper motor. Went to replace that motor and ended up messing up the board.
Trust me, don’t take the cluster apart if you don’t have to.
