I use a 1/4" drive ratchet and just go snug.

I only change my fluid/filter every 30K, and use a WIX filter and the pan gasket is reusable. I use Mobil 1 trans fluid as I like the performance of the fluid since I trailer tow. Fluid amounts do vary-mine only took 4 qts, I added 5 qts as stated in the manual, and had to siphon 1 qt back out. Only add 4 qts and then warm it up and check the fluid. I personally don't like the Dorman pan as it appea.rs flimsy compared to the factory pan. If you have a small plastic plug in the pan when changing, throw it away as its a factory dust plug and you don't need it. Be sure to clean off the magnet in the pan thoroughly and replace it back in the same spot.

Default Do your self a favor

Change the pan to the amazon dorman drain pan . Buy 12 quarts or so of mercon V from amazon . Change the filter the first time ,every few weeks change the fluid until you use it up . Do this every 30k or so, keep it red and fresh . Transmissions are fragile don't let the fluid go bad .If you tow its even more important . Towing requires a trans cooler ,add one, plate type is best . . Heat will destroy your transmission .
I burn my fluids on big wood fires to help start it . Lots of people use it that way ,don't pour it in drains or on the ground . Farmers use it on their fence posts to keep termites from eating them .
