Default Video with strange sound.

I know normally people come in here asking about help with their ticking noise. Oh I am doing that as well but I have a video. Now keep in mind this was done with a cell phone. The "ticking" or "knocking" noise you hear in the video is what I am wondering about. I dont know if this is cam phaser or vcts or what. Thanks for the look and listen.

The 'timing' of the noise sounds to me like it's either valve train related (such as cam follower) or a really, really noisy injector. Do you have a mechanics stethoscope? This would help you pin point the exact origin of the noise, as engine noises like to echo or resonate about.

thats sounds bad. I have a slight tick and mines due to the VCT solenoids (that i havent changed yet and new replacements are sitting on my kitchen counter). that sounds like the dreaded cam phasers. i think. we need to get the "all knowing" Techrep to comment on this.

Any exhaust smell? Hard to tell from the video, but possible manifold leak.

Nothing out of the ordinary. I will say when I rev up the engine it gets faster. The sound that is.

This response is spot on. Lash adjusters and followers. Parts are cheap, less than $300 on ebay, labor is a bitch only because that passenger side valve cover is a nightmare to remove. You do have to address because it will ruin your head and possible your cam.

My truck made a very similar noise when I had my headers installed. Turned out to be a driver side manifold leak. Couple of the bolts were loose. Check your manifold for leaks or loose bolts.
