no I doubt it. Was just curious. Every single one of my adjusters were seized and I figure yours were in the same shape. My engine is now quiet at start up but has a lite diesel sound when it reaches temperature. I left the original cam phasers in and am pretty sure they are responsible for the remaining sounds.

my dealer won't even attempt to resolve these noises. They'll just to you to replace engine.

Well I guess my issue is the fact that I came in and had them look at it and they acknowledged the sound and that they could fix it no problem. I go to pick it up after getting a call saying it was fixed and then I hear it again. I ask about it and they said they fixed it. Well....what did I pay for because the didnt fix the original issue I brought it in for.

Well I went ahead and changed out my VCT's and yes they were the older versions and yes it does run better. However I am getting a noise still. Here is an updated video. Let me know what you think.

This is going to sound weird, but I'll explain in a second. Have you changed out your plugs and boots?
Here's why I ask. My 04 fx4 started making terrible noises about a month after I bought it. It also developed a slight hesitation. I changed plugs/boots, cleaned throttlel body and MAF. Hesitation went away, and some of the knocking/ticking. Then I changed the oil for the first time since I bought it, and it got even quiter. Then changed out the VCT's, and it got even more quieter. Now it's more like an exhaust leak along with the normal injector ticking.
The point is bad plugs can cause knocking or deiseling noises. And if there is some other issue or issues, the motor can sound like there is something terribly wrong, when it's really a few small things.
Just a thought.

buy an automotive stethoscope and probe your valve covers for the noise. I'm willing to bet that the noise is more audible if you get underneath the truck and around the exhaust pipe coming right near the exhaust manifold. Sounds like bad lash adjusters and followers. That a metal tapping sound. How many miles on your truck?

never mind just noticed you already had them replaced. Did they swap all of them out on both sides? Were they seized?

Actually I am still trying to figure this out. Basically I have replaced now the entire exhaust from the cats back and now there is 0 exhaust leak noise. However the ticking from the video is still present. In another post it was mentioned that it could be a loose spark plug (these were replaced last year) but I have yet to look into it. I will be this week and will update.
