The ticking in the passenger side did actually quiet down quite a bit! I still have the drivers side to change, then I can let you know if the ticking has gone. Can't tell ya if its all the way gone when I still hear ticking on the drivers side, until I change out the drivers side Solenoid 1st.

Have no clue what those are...lol. I still don't consider myself very mechanically savy, and I will only tackle jobs that require very minimal removal of parts...lol.

Shoot, ive followed your threads and plug changing and such, not bad!! I wouldnt recommend the above mentioned for a novice but not a impossible task. Time consuming is more the term.

SG, how hard were the rockers and lash adjusters? and Storm, I've kept up with your write ups and have actually learned a few tricks from ya. Everytime your name pops up with "Thunder" I start singin AC/DC...

Well, I'm only patient to a certain extent. Like, I couldn't figure out how to remove the VCT seal cause it was in there so good or it was stuck, so, I just ripped it to pieces, being very careful not to drop the pieces in.

Is that the only difference? Take the covers off then follow the same steps?

If you look at the starting post to this thread, you can clearly see where the VCTs are underneath the valve cover.

Well, they aren't really "under" the valve covers. The electrical connection sticks out of the covers just like on the 04-06 but they made the hole smaller so you can't pull them out. Just make sure you can evac and charge the A/C, have big seclection of sockets and extensions, and can repair the oil dipstick tube or have a new one on hand if you plan on removing the valve covers.

I've decided I'm pretty disappointed. My truck is quite a bit more "lazy" than before. The power band feels exactly like that of my 4.6 I had. I still feel all the power but you have to really wind it out now instead of having it right off the line or lower in the RPM. Don't get me wrong, runs perfect now. Hell, it's every bit as quiet if not quieter than my 4.6 was. No ticking ever. Still like my truck but it will definitely be my last 5.4.

I could definitely tell a slight bit of "oomph" loss with the latest solenoids, but it wasn't drastic by any means. My difference may be my custom tunes. A slight timing advance with a tuner might fix that for you, but if you are really dissatisfied with the performance of the 5.4, then I can already tell you don't have a tuner yet.. The stock tune sucks..
