Upgrading fuel injectors - 5.4L 3 valve
Someone mentioned in the The Final Repair Guide to 5.4 Cam Phaser Tick/Knock Sound that they upgraded to the four hole Bosch injectors and got better fuel economy because of it (but didn't mention part number). All of the Bosch injectors for the 5.4L 3 valve on eBay are remanned, and not available on Rock Auto (or anywhere else). My 2006 truck was built Nov 2005 (which are Motorcraft 5138's), and I noticed on Rock Auto, the four hole Motorcraft 5144 injectors are meant for trucks built after Dec 4 2006. Can I use the 5144's on my truck? I understand the 5138's were a single hole injector.
From what I can see of this video, the 5138's were two hole injectors

Can't say anything about 4 hole ones , It would be nice to know if its doable and the number .Some of this info hard to find ,its a iffy thing to get any real info as these companies are mainly interested in selling you remans under a new listing. Some are deceptive.

Bumping a bit. I suppose I should go to an auto parts store and ask to see an injector for the 2006MY and compare it to a 2007MY to see if they are built the same. (considering the apparent change on Dec 4, 2006, and my truck was built a year earlier in Nov '05)
--EDIT--
Didn't have to do that. Just compared the two different injectors on RockAuto, and they are designed differently. So that Bosch 4 hole injector mentioned by @ceasefire49 might not work for my truck. It does seem like the fuel rail never changes between years, though.

I wish I knew more yes mine are the 5138
If I can find a better injector I would go for it ,I simply don't have the experience with different injectors to make this call .I find very little to help on this matter. The oring size- length on each end ,who has the different ones to try ? I see pound ratings etc --no clue . we need a vary knowledgeable guy to help ..

Well, here's the Bosch injector. But I would imagine the O-ring is the same size considering the fuel rail has the same part number for both the 2006 and 2007 model years. I'm curious as to what model year @ceasefire49 has.

I bought 8- Bosch 62402 for a 08 5.4 2wd. I installed them in about a hour the first week of March. They were 4 hole and looked pretty much the same. No need to order OEM ones when they are made by Bosch.

Well, then... according to eBay, that model you installed for your 2004 is not compatible with my 2006, and any Bosch injector for my 2006 truck on eBay are all re-manufactured.

I think it's gonna be hard to find a set of new injectors for our trucks. I need to do mine, probably gonna go with Bosch reman
