Default upgraded cams?

I am doing my chains and phasers and was thinking about upgrading the cams while I am in there...the question is, while I am good at turning wrenches I have never messed with the factory computer in any vehicle I've owned.. I swapped cams in a mustang gt for a friend.. sounded great but wouldn't idle till he got it tuned...is there cams that I can put it that wont need a tune? I like the ****** thumper cams. what all is required to change the tune? Should I buy a Edge tuner and have it upgraded for the cams I get? thanks.

Cams require a full custom tune. I wouldn't attempt it at all unless I had a dyno shop nearby to tune it properly. An 'email' tune may get you idling, but driving will still run like @$$

You don't have to have a tune http://www.compcams.com/3valve/nsr.php but to optimize performance I would. The NSR stage one and two cams are excellent for those who want a solid bump in performance but without going to a supercharger. The 5.4 responds to cams and nothing else better then the 4.6 does. Install some headers, a free flowing exhaust and tune and you will REALLY notice a significant increase in performance. Call comp cams as they can grind for your application specifically. http://www.compcams.com/3valve/COMP5-124.pdf
