The rear has shocks and the way I 'grew up' around cars/trucks the front has a strut merely because it has one eyelet on the bottom... but hey, I could be wrong about this as well. No offense to any one either!

ok then go into a parts store and ask for a front shock for an f-150 and what are they gonna tell you???? "you mean struts?" how do i know this? i work at an auto parts store and thats exactly what i would say to you. like you said not trying to but your ***** but theres a difference.

shock... strut... as long as you know what I'm talking about. I didnt mean to stir anything up by that.
Chelios - I'll keep in mind about the spring too. If I'm in the truck or not, its still droopy in the front ! ha ( I weigh 170 fyi)

A Strut is usually incorporated into the steering of the vehicle but can also be used in the rear wich is sometimes called a Chapman strut.
A Shock is in a fixed position and merely travels up and down regardless of how it mounts.
