Default Uh Oh I think she finally skipped timing....

Yesterday drove my truck during the afternoon and no issues. Went out for dinner and as soon as I started it, she was running very rough. Limped it around the block to see if anything would change and finally got a CEL. Pulled the codes.

P0012 - A Camshaft Positioning Timing Over Retarded Bank 1
P0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire detected
P0174 - System too lean bank 2
P0300 - Random/multiple misfires detected
P0304 - Cylinder 4 misfire detected
P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected
P2196 - O2 sensor signal biased, stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1

Seems to me that the timing has skipped on bank 1. What do you guys think? I've never done the phasers/timing on this truck but did have the noise. 298,000KM on a 2006 F150, 5.4L.

Never had any major issues on this truck. Was so close to hitting the 300,000 KM mark.

When was the last time the sparkplugs were changed? But kinda seems like it jumped time. Although, bank 2 is listed as lean. Seems weird...

Edit: 650NutKase apparently knows more about codes than I do. Definitely don't run the truck any more, don't want to end up with piston to valve contact. That'd make a bad situation even worse.

I'm looking at newer trucks now. Too many items to fix on this truck. 4x4 doesn't work and its PCM related (need replacement PCM), Timing and phasers, spark plugs need their 3rd replacement, a couple other minor problems. Once I got done with all the repairs, I'm sure the transmission will go on me lol.

Gonna go check out a 2014 F150 FX4 Ecoboost after work. Pretty much the same options as my truck and even a similar colour haha. i just can't change or justify spending money on new.

Sounds like you got to the same point I got with mine. Dropped $4,000 over 4 months, then it still needed tires, power steering fixed, headlights resealed, and a wheel bearing replaced at the minimum. I had just put a new transmission in it. Lol

I couldn't justify spending close to new and not buying new. At least in my area it was like $5000 more to buy new. That said, payments SUCK!

I was getting this same code when I installed a bad VCT Solenoid from NAPA straight out the box.

It took a day of running it before it failed, started to misfire, got that code along with ......think it was P0010 maybe. Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit I believe what it was.

Replaced solenoid, fixed the issue.
This is what prompted me to drop the oil pan and inspect the contents and screen for debris. I'd anticipated finding enough to convince me a timing job was needed immediately. To my surprise, it was in pretty good condition and I'm hoping to make it another year.

Def not saying your wrong, just wanted to mention an instance where this was present that could invoke some optimism !! LOL

Well, I've had a good run here. I ended up buying a 2012 Ram 3500 Cummins to replace the F150 (which I will be selling on CL as is). Needed a bit more payload to be able to tow the boat and the camper. The old F150 was overweight with just the camper.

Learnt a lot on this forum and it definitely helped extend the life of my 06 F150.
